The Full Story
It is widely acknowledged that exposure to nature plays a pivotal role in the holistic development of young children. The opportunity to engage with the natural world enables them to explore, learn, and establish a deeper connection with their surroundings. Whether it entails observing the flora and fauna with their peers, researching and planting a seasonal garden, caring for animals, sitting under the trees to read and create, or an exploratory walk down the creek children stand to gain immensely from spending time outdoors. Therefore, it is imperative to prioritize nature time in the daily routine of young children. Engaging children’s senses through their learning in and out of the classroom will enhance their understanding of the world and facilitate cognitive development. We are official members of the Forest School Association.
New Moon Ethos is a learning collective within the Green Dome Nonprofit. We are on shared grounds and will work closely with the programs offered through Green Dome.
We seek to educate the whole child. Through sensory-based hands-on experiential learning and a focus on SEL, we are facilitating growth in all aspects of a child’s development. Children will build independence and have autonomy in their learning experiences allowing them to thrive in their creativity and collaborate and lead in an environment built for exploration.
We work with your current homeschool goals and direction instead of offering a one size fits all approach. We draw influence from different leaders throughout alternative education knowing that different paths can lead to beautiful outcomes for each child. Our mentors have backgrounds in several fields of educational studies and will work together to individualize each child’s experience here on the land.
Once you’re a part of the Green Dome community, you have open access to explore and create in our outdoor sanctuary, join us for classes, attend our events, cozy coffee dates, and truly be a part of the growth and direction of our learners’ journeys.
