ABOUT THE
GREEN DOME
PROJECT

The Green Dome Project provides mentorship collaboration for families who have chosen a home school or alternative educational route for their child.  We agree that all children deserve to learn, yet know that the method and rate at which they learn should not be standardized.

Our Mission:

Our mission is to provide homeschool children with a nurturing environment where they can forge meaningful connections, deepen their understanding of nature, and receive personalized academic support, empowering them to thrive both academically and socially.

Our Vision:

We envision a future where children are equipped with the tools and experiences necessary to cultivate a lifelong love for learning, foster strong relationships with peers and mentors, and develop a deep appreciation and relationship with the natural world around them.

PROGRAM
OVERVIEW

It is widely acknowledged that exposure to nature plays a pivotal role in the holistic development of young children. The opportunity to engage with the natural world enables them to explore, learn, and establish a deeper connection with their surroundings. Whether it entails observing the flora and fauna with their peers, researching and planting a seasonal garden, caring for animals, sitting under the trees to read and create, or an exploratory walk down the creek children stand to gain immensely from spending time outdoors. Therefore, it is imperative to prioritize nature time in the daily routine of young children.

The Green Dome Project provides children the opportunity to participate in a project-based crossover curriculum.  A tailored emphasis on reading, mathematics, science, writing,  geograpy, and social studies is dictated by each learner's readiness level.  The daily focus on experiential learning develops ownership of learning for each child.

OUR
MENTORS

We are fortunate to have amazing bilingual mentors at The Green Dome Project. With over 25 years of elementary education experience, a life time of experience in Montessori education, strong integration of STEM knowledge, and specializations in early literacy your child will be met where he or she is and be challanged in a way suits their unique learning style.

By tailoring education to the student's needs, we can ensure that they receive the support and guidance they need to reach their full potential. This approach not only helps students succeed academically but also fosters a love of learning that can last a lifetime

THE
SETTING

We meet on 3.4 acres of private property on Williamson Creek in Southeast Austin.

Place-based nature education is crucial for children's development. It helps them connect with the natural world, understand their local environment, and develop a sense of place. By learning about the plants, animals, and ecosystems around them, children can develop deeper appreciation for the world they live in and become stewards of the environment.

The children walk a 150-yard path from the front fenced meeting point to the geodesic Green Dome in the forest that serves as one of the group's resource centers.  We spend our day learning in the trees, exploring in the garden, building in the woods, playing in the fields, as well as exploring to the Willimson Creek East Greenbelt for trekking adventures.
